Fungal Infections

Fungal infections have become very common all over the world. Fungal infections occur when various types of fungus invade the skin, and the immune system is not able to fight this fungus. These fungal infections include ringworm infection, yeast infection, athlete’s foot, and jock itch. There are millions of fungi on the planet, but
it’s the selected 300 that make people very sick. These are microscopic fungi that live outdoors and indoors in the soil, plants, water, and air or on various surfaces inside the house as well.

If a person suffers from mild fungal infection then it seems like a rash, and it is quite common as well. For example, Tinea or Ringworm is a fungus, and not a worm. Fungal infections can take place on various parts of the body viz. underarms, near the groin area, or the complete body as well. If you are working in hot and humid conditions that produce a lot of sweat, or if you wear tight clothes then you are bound to get fungal infections like jock itch.

You need to have a good bath, and dry your body as well as wash and dry your clothes in sunlight. It is only after this should you wear these clothes. If you have a fungal infection, then a ring can be seen, and this shows you are suffering from fungal infections.

In this case, you shouldn’t buy creams or medication from your local pharmacy; rather take an appointment with a skin specialist who will identify the extent of your fungal infection, and the type of treatment or medication that is required to cure the fungal infection.

As seen before, this infection would be cured in about 2-3 weeks, but as patients are using over-the-counter creams, their fungal infection becomes worse even if the medication is prescribed for 6 – 8 weeks. Thus, higher anti-fungal medicine has to be prescribed.

If you are suffering from fungal infections, it is better to see a skin specialist for the right set of treatments, medication, and the duration as well. Thus, if you do have a bad fungal infection on your body, then do not self medicate yourself with over-the-counter medication from a local pharmacist.
